Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 September 2026
Wake up Joondalup is a community commentary website run by Suzanne Thompson. This policy explains what information the site handles when you visit or leave a comment.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site. It collects information about visits, such as pages viewed, browser and device details, and approximate location. Google Analytics uses a cookie to distinguish visitors and their sessions. We use its reports to understand our readership and improve the site; we do not use them to identify individual readers.
You can restrict cookies through your browser settings or use Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on. Google may process Analytics information outside Australia.
If you leave a comment and choose to save your name, email address, and website in your browser, WordPress sets cookies so you do not need to enter those details again. These cookies last for one year. WordPress also uses login cookies for people authorised to manage the site.
Comments
Where comments are available, we collect the name, email address, comment, and associated technical information submitted through the comment form. Your email address is not published. We use this information to review and manage comments.
Comments and their associated information remain in WordPress unless they are removed. You can ask us to remove a comment you made, subject to any information we need to retain for legitimate administrative, legal, or security reasons. If a spam detection service is enabled, comments may be checked by that service.
Facebook content and external websites
The site displays content from the Wake up Joondalup Facebook page and links to other websites. Content supplied by another service may use cookies or collect information about your interaction with it, particularly if you are logged in to that service. Its own privacy policy explains how it handles that information.
We do not sell information submitted through this website.
Access, corrections, and complaints
You can ask for access to information you have submitted through the site, request a correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern. Contact wakeupjoondalup@outlook.com. We will consider your request and respond as soon as reasonably practicable.
If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may be able to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, depending on whether the Privacy Act applies to the matter.
We will update this policy if the site’s features or information-handling practices change.
